Spain is preparing for a significant weather shift this weekend, characterized by a stark contrast in temperatures across the country. While central and northern regions brace for chilly mornings with lows as cold as 3°C in cities like Ávila, southern areas are expected to bask in warmth, with temperatures soaring above 30°C in places such as Seville and Huelva.
Inland cities including Segovia, Burgos, León, Salamanca, and Huesca are forecast to experience morning temperatures around 4°C to 5°C. Meanwhile, southern cities like Granada, Málaga, and Almería may reach afternoon highs of approximately 27°C, with Cádiz and Córdoba expected to hit about 28°C.
Aside from the temperature fluctuations, parts of Spain are under weather warnings for heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and rough seas, particularly along the Mediterranean coast and in the south. Girona’s coastline is facing orange warnings due to strong winds and waves reaching three to four meters, while Menorca could see waves up to five meters high, driven by strong northerly winds. Weather alerts are also in place for Mallorca, Ceuta, and Lanzarote.
These conditions could disrupt ferry services and outdoor activities such as coastal walks and beach visits. Travelers are advised to stay updated with local forecasts and heed any warnings when planning their activities.
Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to rise over the weekend as warmer air spreads across Spain from October 12. Cities like Badajoz, Córdoba, Huelva, Ourense, and Seville may again see temperatures exceed 30°C, and Madrid could experience highs around 25°C. This warm spell is anticipated to bring temperatures above seasonal averages, making parts of Spain feel more like late summer rather than autumn in the coming days.
