Meta has introduced a new line of AI-powered wearable technology aimed at addressing privacy concerns associated with wearable devices. The highlight of this launch is the camera-free smart glasses, which will be available from October 13, priced at $349. Unlike Meta’s other smart glasses, these new models focus on audio capabilities, sidestepping the potential privacy issues presented by cameras for photos or video recording.
The company emphasized that privacy remains a crucial element of their wearable technology, maintaining features like a visible recording indicator on models equipped with cameras. In addition to the camera-free glasses, Meta also announced upgraded versions of its smart glasses that incorporate display capabilities. These display models will be priced from $799 and are set to launch in additional international markets.
Further expanding its wearable offerings, Meta revealed lighter mixed-reality glasses, which will utilize an external battery and memory pack. These glasses are expected to be available by spring 2027, starting at $1,299.
Beyond hardware, Meta showcased Muse, an AI-powered personal assistant designed to help users with tasks such as booking appointments, making calls, and connecting with various services. This positions both the AI glasses and Muse as integral components of Meta’s broader consumer AI strategy.
